Ukrainian Freedom Digest from QATestLab | June 10, 2022

On their LinkedIn profile, QATestLab — an international independent software testing provider with a big team of professionals in Ukraine — regularly post the latest news about the country and their company. Here is their latest Ukrainian Freedom Digest.

  • Having passed the milestone of 100 days, the war in Ukraine has entered a long-term stage. According to the NewsWhip study, there has been a 22-fold decrease in social media interactions on news articles published about Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasizes that international engagement is crucial for Ukraine.
  • One of the most discussed topics of the last week was the issue of Ukrainian food exports. Now the russian block of ports in the Black Sea hinders their work. According to ING Economics, the disruption is exacerbating the global food crisis, as Ukraine accounts for 12% of global wheat exports and 17% of global corn exports. Ukraine is also the world’s largest exporter of sunflower oil. Together with the world community, the country is looking for alternative routes for food supplies.
  • One of the possible solutions for the export issue is the development of railway infrastructure. These days Ukraine is beginning to switch to the European gauge standard, which will connect large railway junctions and cities. Then the network will gradually expand throughout the country.
  • The Council of the European Union approved the sixth package of economic and personal sanctions against russia. In particular, the EU approved a partial ban on russian oil and the disconnection of Sberbank from SWIFT. Such measures are really of great importance for Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian government, the international organizations are not putting enough pressure on Russia to stop the war immediately.
  • In addition, the European Parliament recognizes the European perspective of Ukraine and works on its status of a candidate for membership. Next week, the European Commission is going to conclude on applications for EU membership of Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova.

As for the company news, QATestLab continues to support the Ukrainian military forces. Earlier, the team announced that they had launched the direction of targeted assistance in our HR program. Every month the company processes a dozen employee requests, doubling donations from team members, and transfers the money to the Ukrainian defenders.

In addition to working on projects, QATestLab actively conducts online testing courses in Ukraine and Kenya. The training is carried out in Ukrainian and English, respectively, and allows students to master a new promising profession in a short time. In June, new streams will start for each of the countries. The best students that have passed the testing courses get a job offer from the company.
