Back on Saturday, October 30, the TRON blockchain network team announced the official launch of the BitTorrent Chain Test Network (BTTC). BTTC is already compatible with TRON, Ethereum, and BSC and will soon support HECO and OEC.
In the future, BTTC will support more public chains to carry out its mission of connecting all chains. The TRON team also committed $1 billion to catalyze the transition of projects from Ethereum to BTTC.
Developed by the core teams of BitTorrent and TRON, BTTC is the industry’s first heterogeneous cross-chain interoperability protocol. It features PoS consensus mechanism, multi-node validation, and supports off-chain matching and smart contract extension through side-chains.
It has enriched BTTC with core competencies such as a diversified multi-chain scalable structure, cost-effective transfers, and asset security.
Leveraging fully decentralized BTTC, users can transfer mainstream assets between TRON, Ethereum, and BSC in a decentralized manner without any limits, according to an open letter from TRON founder Justin Sun regarding TRON’s new vision and the official launch of the BitTorrent chain.
Furthermore, as a Layer 2 network compatible with both the TRON and Ethereum protocols, BTTC features full EVM compatibility – all EVM developers are allowed to migrate their entire Ethereum-based applications to the BitTorrent Chain, providing scalability to the Ethereum network.
With the arrival of BTTC, TRON will see the emergence of a closed-loop ecosystem of Layer 1 and Layer 2 networks with strong cross-chain connectivity.
Notably, elections will be held to verify BitTorrent’s nodes on the TRON blockchain, similar to those of the TRON protocol. Everyone can participate in the election to become a BTTC node, and BTT holders can cast their votes to earn staking rewards.
Furthermore, only a limited number of seats are available, and the elections will be terminated once the maximum is reached. Users can earn BTT rewards and participate in community management once they become Detectives.
With its development, TRON has grown into one of the largest blockchain-based networks in the world. Furthermore, TRON has recently been active in NFT technology. Besides launching the first NFT standard (TRC-721) last March, TRON has also leveraged the BTFS Distributed Storage System, providing an alternative and efficient infrastructure for converting artwork into NFTs on the blockchain.
