A simple solution to load Gulf bottlenecks

October 27, 2021

There is a shortage of heavy truck drivers across Europe, which is very felt in the UK. Part of this is caused by the epidemic. Essential goods continued to move during the lockdown, but as non-essential goods were out of circulation, many carriers went bankrupt and drivers sought work elsewhere.

With the economy reopening, demand is skyrocketing, and as carriers struggle to adjust they are forced to turn down work due to a lack of capacity. If the loading or unloading time is several hours, it is better to choose shorter running operations so that more jobs can be completed at the same time.

Of course, turning down jobs means rejecting money and risking the future of some customer relationships, as these contracts go to other operators in the future.

Confut, a Finnish manufacturer of shipping container legs, believes it has the solution to solve these bottlenecks in the loading area. With ConFoot container legs, the container can be left on the legs in the loading compartment for loading and unloading, freeing the truck and driver to continue other tasks in the meantime.

Carriers will have a larger time window to collect containers in most cases, making it easier to manage. This allows carriers to plan more efficient routes, increasing revenue and customer satisfaction.

Retaining drivers is also easier, as many drivers are paid by the mile rather than by the hour, so delays mean lost income for them.

ConFoot says its container legs require virtually no maintenance, and have a lifespan of up to 20 years, providing an extremely high return on investment. The air suspension structure and unloading valve of the truck trailer are used to raise and lower the container, and only one person is needed to install the legs, which means the driver can do it alone without the help of personnel on site.

The max capacity of the loading hatch model is 30 tons (container + content).
