Ten grams of 24 karat gold was sold on Thursday at Rs 47,490, Rs 20 down from yesterday’s trading price. Silver was at 64,600 rupees per kilogram, 400 rupees more than yesterday’s trading price, according to the Good Returns website.

The price of gold jewelry varies across India, which is the second largest consumer of the metal, due to excise duty, state taxes, and levies.

In New Delhi and Mumbai, 10 grams of 22 karat gold was sold at Rs 46,600 and Rs 46,490.

In Chennai, the yellow metal was being sold at Rs 44,740, according to the website.

In New Delhi, the price of 10 grams of 24 karat gold was 50,840 rupees. In Chennai, it is trading at Rs 48,810. Mumbai averages 47,490 rupees, while Kolkata’s 49,600 rupees, according to the website.
