Ten grams of 24 karat gold was sold on Saturday at Rs 48,070, Rs 100 more than yesterday. Silver was at 63,600 rupees per kilogram, according to the Good Returns website.

The price of gold jewelry varies across India, the second largest consumer of the metal, due to excise tax, state taxes, and levies. In New Delhi and Mumbai, 10 grams of 22 karat gold was sold at Rs 46,959 and Rs 47,070. In Chennai, the yellow metal was being sold at Rs 45,150, according to the website.

In New Delhi, the price of 10 grams of 24 karat gold was 51,220 rupees. In Chennai, it is trading at Rs 49,260. Mumbai averages 48,070 rupees, while Kolkata is 49,950 rupees, according to the website.

Silver was trading on Saturday at 63,600 rupees per kilogram from 62,200 rupees in the trading session on Friday.
