How to display all table data in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

Jason Ueshiba, Tensoft Senior Advisor and Business Central Expert, recently shared some tips and tricks at a Tensoft customer training session on
“There are two ways to display all the fields available on a given page – the first is to display them only in a web page and the second is through the configuration package.
Displaying the table and metadata in a web page is more user-friendly and involves fewer steps. If you go to Purchase order Menu page > Personalization, you will see a set of fields available to you in the customization. Microsoft has added a lot of fields here and at some point, most of them will be available. But if there is another domain that you know exists and you want to find it, tap “?” > Help and Support > Check Pages and Data. This will tell you the “page” and “table”. Click ‘Table view‘ Link.
This is basically the same as doing an SQL query against the raw table. This will include every field likely to be available. There is no export page on this page. The only way to get this on a list you might want to work with in excel, is to click Select more Then select them all > CTRL C and paste that into Excel. You’ll notice that it extends all the way to FH in excel, so there are quite a few fields available to you.
If it’s a one-time event and you don’t plan to get data frequently, this is the fastest way to do it. But if you want to get the table data more often, you can create a configuration package.
Click Configuration Packs > New & gt;; Give it the name “PURCH ORDER” and then find the id of the table. It’s 38 for a buy head.
Now, you will see this in the configuration packages. Click Package > Export to Excel. It’s a few clicks more than the first method, but you can see once you’ve saved it, it’s easier to get into Excel. The layout is a bit nicer than the previous one. This is an alternative way to get all the data.”
