You apply for jobs every day, but feel stuck. Your job search is not going anywhere. You submit job applications, but receive no response from employers. Why don’t you get interviews? What are you doing wrong? Is it your CV?

1. You don’t have enough keywords
Most companies use Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) to sort all the resumes they receive for job postings. One way they determine which job candidates are qualified for a particular job is by looking at the keywords they have included in their resume. How many keywords in your resume match the keywords in the job description? If you do not have enough correct keywords in your resume, you will be disqualified from the recruitment process by ATS. This means that your resume will be discarded without crossing the hiring manager’s office.
If you haven’t been contacted by employers, it could be because you don’t have enough keywords (or the right keywords) on your resume.
The solution: Include keywords from the job description in your resume. What skills, techniques, and experience are employers looking for? How many of these skills do you possess? Are you familiar with any of the techniques/software you will be using on the job? Do you have the right kind of experience? Once you have identified what you need for the job you want to apply for, be sure to tailor your resume to that specific job so you give yourself the best possible chance of bypassing ATS and impressing hiring managers. List relevant skills at the top of your resume (don’t use keywords) and be sure to use the terms mentioned in the job description on your resume, if possible.
2. You are using an old resume format
Another reason why your resume may not be successful is that you are using an outdated resume format. Similar to the first reason, the formatting of your resume may prevent ATS from effectively reviewing the information on your resume. But if your resume is past ATS in an outdated format, hiring managers can still look at your resume, find out it’s outdated and hard to read, and then decide to drop your resume because you didn’t make it easy. them to get the information they need about you. By using an outdated resume format, you also risk looking outdated and out of date, which won’t help your case if you’re really concerned about age discrimination.
If your resume isn’t easy to read and isn’t distinctive to hiring managers in the first few seconds it’s reviewed, you won’t be contacted. Employers simply will not be able to determine if you are qualified for the job or not because you have not made it easy for them to find this information.
The solution: To make sure your resume goes beyond ATS and stands out to hiring managers, use an updated resume format. Pay attention to how each section of your resume is formatted and make sure that the formatting is consistent throughout the document. Focus on using points in the Work History section, omit long paragraphs, and don’t force your resume on one page. This will help you ensure that there is enough white space in your resume so that it is easy to read. When in doubt, a simple and clean resume format is the best option.
3. You do not limit the amount of your work experience
Let’s say you have enough keywords in your resume that you bypass ATS. Let’s also say you used an updated resume format. Now that your resume is in the hiring manager’s hands, and it’s easy to read all the information on it, how do you stand out from the competition? Does your work experience prove that you will be a valuable employee? What service do you provide as a single business? what is your specialty? Are you getting results? What have you accomplished?
If you don’t measure your work experience on your resume, you’ll have a hard time convincing hiring managers. Quantifiable information allows hiring managers to gauge the degree of knowledge and skills you must offer. It’s a way of letting them know what you can bring to the table and how much.
The solution: Find out how to outline your work experience on your resume. Think about what you have achieved in your career. Look at the points in the Work History section of your resume and try to include at least one number for each. Including numbers on your resume not only shows hiring managers what you can do, but they also help your resume stand out because the numbers separate the text and grab people’s attention. If you can’t select something, it doesn’t belong on your resume.
